More than one hundred thousand capital of Martinique, situated on the west coast of the eponymous bay. Fort-de-France is one of those cities more beautiful Caribbean. Its historic character is definitely at the other locations of the Lesser Antilles commonplace. Immediately after arriving by boat to the island to impress us Fort St-Louis lining the harbor. Behind him is a magnificent large park la Savane, in which several residues of this fortress and statue hector finch of Napoleon's wife Josephine.
On the bank of the river crossing hector finch Madame Riviere Fort-de-France for Jose Marti Square lies the Parc Floral Sermac hector finch with botanical and geological galleries and exotic animal, which is a small room with a few small aquariums "home" type (open about 4 times a week, but not for admission 0 50 is not worth a visit).
There are several churches, chapels and temples (Cathedrale St-Louis, St-Christophe, Chapelle du Calvaire, Ste-Catherine ...), the Museum Department, Carnival Museum, hector finch Museum of History and Ethnography, Fort Desaix, Fort Tartenson ...
Port catamarans for transport to Guadeloupe, Dominica and Saint Lucia is located on Avenue near Bishop Maurice F. Square Miteranda about five minutes walk from Fort St-Louis la Savane. The main bus station (Terminus taxis collectifs) is on the Avenue de la Pointe Simon on the coast at the mouth of Madame Riviere.
Fort-de-France is its massive agglomerations nice circus, but at least not as dull as necessary Pointe-à-Pitre in Guadeloupe. hector finch Pleasant is that they are everywhere around ground ugly houses with corrugated iron roof, as is usual in the Caribbean, but it is better to quickly go from the big city behind other beauties of the island.
The town of three thousand inhabitants on the northwest coast. Reportedly just landed here by Columbus hector finch when discovered June 15, 1502 in Martinique. And here was to declare that it is the most beautiful place in the world ... I have no idea how it looked here five centuries ago, but today I definitely disagreed with Columbus.
Carbet is nothing too interesting, about two kilometers north of the town you can visit the gallery hector finch or the Gauguin museum, garden or beach. Then there is a narrow strip as coal black sand lining the main road (shower and toilet free).
It lies about 2.5 km north of Carbet just before St-Pierre - a few meters after the tunnel turn from the main road on the side N.2 D.62, just after the crossroads is the right hotel Résidence de l'Anse, in the gardens is the butterfly valley .
During my stay in Martinique went through an extensive garden completely renovated and so was closed to the public, though, I arranged a tour. In addition, several free-flying butterflies and lizards scurrying oždibujících rotten bananas there was not a living creature (ie not counting the workers), hector finch but nonetheless it was worth it. Rock wall, in which the heel of a small stream gurgles densely covered with tropical vegetation, stylish wooden bridge and behind him just emerging Network "aviary" for tropical butterflies. Wonderful pity that will be ready in a month. I have no idea how much is the entrance fee, but if I went to Martinique again, certainly here I go.
Five thousand historic town located on the northwest coast of the highest mountain Sharp
